EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Keeping the vision to continue the same care and improve the betterment of the patient care and satisfaction, BLDE Deemed To be University under chairmanship of beloved DR.M.B.Patil decided to start emergency medicine department.
Department of Emergency Medicine started in 2019 -2020, it is 30 bedded comprehensive Emergency department situated in ground floor in the entrance of hospital, systematically divided in to red ,yellow and green zone for treating patient priority basis which helpful in decreasing the turnaround time in the ED and prevent crowding . It is close proximity to radiology department ,laboratory ,and emergency operation theatre which help in fasten investigation and patient treatment .Emergency care will be provided round the clock 24*7 to patients with variety of emergencies like medical, Pediatrics, trauma, surgical emergencies, acute coronary syndrome, stroke, sepsis, poisoning, snake bite and so on. we keep the vision of golden period in trauma patient and window period in stroke patient. It is manned by faculty, senior residents and junior residents and nursing staff who all trained in emergency medicine to provide efficient emergency care.
We have a dedicated triage area where every patient is allocated according to the severity of illness in to red/yellow/green category for the management. Department is equipped with adult and pediatric crash carts, cardiac monitor, defibrillator and mechanical ventilator and there is provision for point of care testing like ultrasonography, ABG, cardiac biomarker, capillary glucose. We have well equipped 24*7 working toxicology Center which detects the varieties of poisoning from the patient’s blood/urine/stomach sample who are coming to ED with consumption of poison.
The department is also equipped with advanced instruments for difficult airway management like Video laryngoscope, and non-invasive ventilator, additional beds in emergency wards and intensive care units provides continued care for the patients. A team of senior casualty medical officers who are an integral part of emergency medicine department deal with medico legal issues and provide full time services.
