Academic: Department has been imparting knowledge through MBBS course (Since 1987) and MD in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (Since 2011, recognized by MCI in 2014).

Autopsies: The department accorded the permission by State Government for conducting independent Medico-legal Autopsies at BLDE A’s Shri B.M.Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre in 1996. Since then the department is actively involved in conducting Autopsies.

Consultancy and Expert opinion: Since 2006, Department has been providing consultancy and expert opinion for Medico-legal cases at Vijayapur and Bagalkot districts.

Poison Information and Detection Centre: It was started on 18th November 2013 and since then it has been catering poison detection as well as poison information services at the Vijayapura district.

Mortuary technician certificate Course: This is a skill based course that has been started in the year 2018

BSc Forensic science course; An Allied health science course that has been started in the year 2020

The Library: contains more than 172 reading material, which include, Text books (44), Allied text books (12), Reference books (112), Journals (22), Dissertations (3)

Radio talks; Radio talks are regularly being done by the faculty to impart awareness and knowledge towards community
