🛡️ “Patient Safety is the Priority and the Core Mission of Every Hospital” – Dr. Anand Suntan

On the occasion of World Patient Safety Day, the NABH Quality Department of BLDE (Deemed to be University), Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Surgery, organised an awareness programme.

Speaking as the Resource Person, Dr. Anand Suntan, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery, highlighted that patient safety is the foremost priority of every hospital. He explained that medical errors can be prevented through correct patient identification, accurate diagnosis, infection prevention and control, and safe medication practices. Under this year’s theme, “Safe care for noncommunicable disease patients,” he emphasised the importance of providing safe and quality care to patients with noncommunicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer.

The programme was chaired by Dr. S. N. Bentoor, Medical Superintendent, BLDE Hospital, and Dr. V. T. Kalyanappagol, Senior Vice Principal. Dr. Manjunath Kotennavar, Head, Department of Surgery, and Dr. Vijaykumar Warad, Head, Department of General Medicine, attended the programme as the Chief Guests.

Dr. Eeranna Dharwadkar delivered the welcome address, Dr. Shivaleela Devaramani proposed the vote of thanks, and Dr. Spoorthi Biradar compered the programme. Dr. Ravikumar Biradar, Dr. S. M. Biradar, Eknath Jadhav, Dr. Kirankumar Avati, Mehboob Karjagi and Bhagya Pujari, along with around 60 nursing and paramedical staff members, were present.
