Overview

The Department of Medical Education is dedicated to enhancing the academic ecosystem by empowering faculty with innovative teaching-learning and assessment methodologies, ensuring they evolve into effective and dynamic educators. It fosters a robust research culture, encouraging both students and faculty to actively engage in scholarly activities. The department also plays a pivotal role in the implementation and continuous refinement of the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum, striving for academic excellence and holistic medical training.

To be a centre of excellence in facilitating medical educators to be competent trainers, who are capable of training undergraduate and postgraduate students as competent physicians of first contact and competent specialists respectively.

Infrastructure

Medical plants Garden is integral part of medical institute. It consists of herbs which have medicinal and aromatic properties. It is important source of raw material for medicinal remedies It is natural repository of medicinal plants which signifies a rich heritage of traditional knowledge and plant diversity.

Well equipped Medical Education Unit hall with E-Learning resources, all modern gadgets and furniture required for all kinds of group activities.

The Department of Medical Education actively promotes research in the field of health professions education, encouraging faculty and students to explore innovative teaching strategies, assessment tools, and curriculum development models. Ongoing research projects focus on competency-based medical education (CBME), integration of technology in learning, student feedback systems, and outcome-based education. Through workshops, mentorship, and scholarly publications, the department nurtures a culture of evidence-based educational practices that align with global standards and national health priorities.

Activities

The Department of Medical Education conducts a wide range of academic and faculty development activities throughout the year. These include orientation programs for new faculty, Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP) workshops, Research Methodology training, Assessment and Feedback training, and Attitude, Ethics & Communication (AETCOM) modules. The department also facilitates student enrichment sessions like integrated teaching, early clinical exposure, and self-directed learning. Continuous Medical Education (CME) programs and hands-on training sessions further ensure faculty and students stay updated with evolving trends in medical education.
