The Department of Dentistry was started in June 1990, as an allied branch of General Surgery. Presently, we have adequate staff members and facilities to run the department & OPD. [Four MDS and, four BDS Faculty, and Four Dental chairs]Specialty practice in Orthodontics has been started in the Department from Jan 2015.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity, commonly in the dentition but also the oral mucosa, and of adjacent and related structures and tissues, particularly in the maxillofacial (jaw and facial) area.

The Department of Dentistry at BLDE (Deemed to be University) is fully equipped to provide comprehensive dental care through a range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. We offer advanced radiographic options, including intraoral periapical X-rays, occlusal X-rays, and bitewing radiographs, which ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning.
Our surgical capabilities range from minor procedures, such as excisional and incisional biopsies, operculectomies, and extractions of impacted teeth, to major interventions that include the management of maxillofacial trauma, treatment of oral cysts and tumors, apicoectomy, and apexification.
Additionally, the department provides a wide array of dental treatments, including orthodontic and interceptive orthodontic care, specialized pediatric (pedodontic) treatments, periodontal therapies, endodontic procedures, oral surgical services, and fixed prosthodontic solutions. This ensures that patients receive holistic and specialized dental care all under one roof.
