The Department of Pediatrics, Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, BLDE (Deemed to be University), in association with the Central Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), successfully organized the IAP Advanced Life Support (ALS) Course Workshop for MD, DNB, and DCH postgraduate students on 1st and 2nd May 2026. Conducted from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at the Skill Lab and Demonstration Hall, the two-day workshop focused on enhancing participants’ knowledge and practical skills in the management of pediatric emergencies and advanced resuscitation.
The workshop was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. Arun Inamdar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BLDE (DU), Dr. Anand Ambali, Vice Principal (Academic & Administration), Dr. M. M. Patil, Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics, Dr. S. S. Kalyanshettar, President, IAP Vijayapura, and Dr. Atul Thobbi, Secretary, IAP Vijayapura. The program was organized under the guidance of Dr. M. M. Patil as the Organizing Chairman and Dr. Prakash Vemanna J. as the Organizing Secretary and Course Coordinator.
A total of 33 postgraduate delegates participated in the workshop, receiving expert training from a team of six experienced instructors from leading medical institutions across Karnataka. The workshop featured interactive lectures, simulation-based learning, hands-on skill stations, and scenario-based emergency management sessions, equipping participants with the confidence and competence required to manage critically ill pediatric patients.
The successful conduct of the IAP ALS Course reflects the Department of Pediatrics’ unwavering commitment to competency-based medical education, clinical excellence, and continuous professional development through collaboration with national academic bodies such as the Indian Academy of Pediatrics.
