IAP Basic Life Support (BLS) Course Workshop for Postgraduate Students

The Department of Pediatrics, Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, BLDE (Deemed to be University), in association with the Central Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), successfully organized the IAP Basic Life Support (BLS) Course Workshop for MD, DNB, and DCH postgraduate students on 18 April 2026. The day-long workshop was held from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at the Skill Lab and Demonstration Hall, providing participants with structured, hands-on training in pediatric basic life support.

The workshop was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. Tejashwini Vallabh, Principal, Dr. S. V. Patil, Dean – Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Vijayakumar Kalyanappagol, Medical Director & Senior Vice Principal, Dr. M. M. Patil, Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics, and Dr. S. S. Kalyanshettar, President, IAP Vijayapura. The program was conducted under the leadership of Dr. M. M. Patil as the Organizing Chairman and Dr. Prakash V. J. as the Organizing Secretary and Course Coordinator.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 36 postgraduate delegates, supported by 5 certified instructors and 3 observers. Expert faculty members guided participants through evidence-based pediatric resuscitation techniques, simulation-based skill stations, and emergency response protocols, enabling them to strengthen their clinical competence and confidence in managing life-threatening pediatric emergencies.

This academic initiative reflects the Department of Pediatrics’ commitment to promoting excellence in medical education through competency-based training, advanced clinical skills, and continuous professional development in collaboration with leading national professional organizations.
