Health Check-up Camp and Awareness Talk for Senior Citizens – International Day for Older Persons 2026

The Department of Geriatrics, BLDE (Deemed to be University), Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Vijayapura, organized a Health Check-up Camp and Awareness Talk for Senior Citizens on 5th October 2026, commemorating the International Day for Older Persons. The programme was conducted at the Seminar Hall from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, with the aim of promoting awareness about healthy ageing, disease prevention, and healthcare services available for older adults. A total of 22 delegates participated in the programme.

Dr. Anand P. Ambali welcomed the gathering and introduced the Geriatric Clinic, highlighting the range of services offered by the department. He emphasized the convenience and benefits of having multiple geriatric healthcare services available on a single floor of the hospital, making access to care easier for senior citizens.

Dr. S. T. Kalsad delivered an informative talk on the prevention of diseases and complications among older people. He also highlighted the services and importance of the Immunization Clinic in supporting the health and well-being of senior citizens. Dr. I. S. Dharwadkar spoke about various government schemes and welfare benefits available to older adults, along with the assistance and support they can access during emergency situations.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Anand P. Ambali.
