The Department of Medicine is committed to shaping students into competent, compassionate, and research-oriented doctors. It emphasizes strong clinical acumen, a lifelong learning approach, and active participation in academic research, starting from the undergraduate level. Postgraduates are rigorously trained to become not only skilled clinicians but also future educators and researchers.
Since its establishment in 1988, the department has grown under the leadership of dedicated Heads, currently led by Dr. M. S. Mulimani. It boasts a well-equipped ICCU, CCU, diabetic clinic (since 1989), and diagnostic facilities like Echocardiography and Treadmill testing. Regular CMEs, workshops, national and state-level conferences, and community outreach programs like TB drug distribution and health camps are integral to the department. Faculty are actively involved in research and have presented at various prestigious platforms while also engaging in extracurricular and social service initiatives.

The Department of Medicine is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure to support both teaching and clinical training. It features 2 demonstration rooms, 1 seminar room, a well-organized museum with 9 medical specimens, and 30 educational charts to enhance learning.
Additional facilities include a digital board, an LCD projector with screen for multimedia presentations, and a dedicated departmental library stocked with over 320 books, offering rich academic resources for students and faculty alike.
