Career Counselling Cell
To make aware of the various career opportunities that
exist beyond clinical practice and to introduce a wide range of options such as
specializing in different medical fields, coupled with guiding the educational
and professional paths that align with their aspirations, a unique event Catalyst – What Next? was organized for
the interns (MBBS – 2018 Batch students) by the Career Counselling Cell of
BLDE(Deemed to be University), Vijayapura on 28th March 2024 at Lecture Hall, 4th Floor of
Skill lab from 10.00 am onwards. The event was planned well considering the
vital vitamins needed for an Intern to prosper in his/her future endeavors. The
event was lined up with seven
interactive sessions & discussions from intellectuals across the country
who have excelled in the field of Medicine.
The welcome speech was by Dr. Ashwini Nuchhi. Followed by the welcome speech, Dr. R. S. Mudhol, Vice-Chancellor BLDE (Deemed to be University), congratulated the interns for their dedicated hard work in pursuing their MBBS degree and addressed the interns on the topic “What Next after MBBS?” The session of Dr. R. S. Mudhol, was spirited, as sir emphasized and cited several examples of alumni for their achievements in the Public sector, Health care administration, and many more. The interns not only sensed the importance of serving in the public sector but also realized the Pledge administered during the inception of their academic journey.
The second session was by Dr. S. Deepa Ganiger, IPS Deputy
Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, Govt. of India. The session of Dr. S. Deepa
Ganiger was a memorable session of the day as the speaker elaborated on the
topic “Boon for Doctors in Civil
Services.” The whole session was an interactive session and the resource
person used the student’s friendly language and all the queries were clarified
with justification.
The third session was by Dr. Ashish Kumar Mishra, PG
Emergency Medicine from King George Medical University, Lucknow. The session by
Dr. Ashish was motivating, as he gave details on Cracking NEET PG exams that
justified his topic “The Tips &
Tactics to Crack NEET PG.” The presentation in his session was spectacular
and the interns acquired the tactics to crack NEET PG. The queries raised by
interns to Dr. Ashish were replied to with qualifying content.
The fourth session was by Dr. Aravind V. Patil, Dean Faculty of Medicine, Shri. B. M. Patil Medical College Hospital & Resaerch Centre, Vijayapura. The session by Dr. Aravind was enriching, as he motivated the interns on many components of being a Doctor with Empathy, Humanity, Serenity, and determination. Dr. Aravind motivated the interns to join the Indian Army Services and serve Mother India.
The fifth session was by Lt Col Dr. Sandeep Gaikwad, Consultant OBS & GYN at Military Hospital, Deolali (Nashik). The session by Lt. Col. Sandeep was inspiring, as he motivated the interns on the topic “Career Opportunities for The Constituent College SHRI B. M. PATIL MEDICAL COLLEGE, HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTRE, VIJAYAPURA Doctors in the Army.” The interns got Goosebumps after listening to Dr. Sandeep's achievements and are excited to explore career opportunities for doctors in the Army cadre as the session was laced with the procedure for getting recruited in the army squad.
The Sixth session was by Hon’ble Dr. Ved Prakash Mishra,
Pro-Chancellor & Chief Advisor Data Meghe Institute of Higher Education
& Research (Deemed to be University), Nagpur. The session was on the topic “Shift from Internship to Real World
settings.” The session was outstanding and the interns visualized the
scenarios of twenty years down the lane. Dr. Ved’s session was appreciated by
the interns as it covered the content in 360 degrees which is
necessary for a Medical graduate.
The Seventh session was Dr. Denis Xavier, Vice-Dean, St.
Johns Medical College, Bengaluru. Dr. Denis emphasized on the need &
essence of Research for an individual’s survival thus defending the topic “Should all doctors in India do Research?” In
the entire session, Dr. Denis highlighted various aspects of research including
funding agencies and the role of statistics in Medical research.
The event was appreciated by all the interns and they gave
positive feedback for organizing the event as it has provided many platforms
for all the interns to prosper in their future academic endeavors. Dr. Veena
Harwalkar proposed Vote of thanks and the entire program was anchored by Dr.
Siddaling Talikoti.
