12 days Common Yoga Protocol Training on mental health for1st phase Medical Students

The Centre for Yoga and Exercise Science, Department of Physiology, in collaboration with

Morarji Desai National Institute Of Yoga Centre, Ministry Of Ayush, Government Of organized India organized 12 days Common Yoga Protocol Training on mental health for 1st phase Medical Students as a part of“yoga Sangam” and “Yoga Samavesh” which is a Signature event towards 11th International Day of Yoga 2025with the “Theme: Yoga for One Earth, One Health” and concluded on 21st June, 2025.

The event commenced with an invocation song performed by Ms. Sonali, a first-year MBBS student, followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Anita Teli Associate Professor, Dept of Physiology.

 The inauguration featured a traditional lamp lighting ceremony. Those participating in the inauguration included the Chief Guest, Dr. Ranjitha K.R., Legal Officer at Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited (KBJNL), Alamatti, and wife of Shri Laxman Nimbaragi, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Vijayapura. She was joined by Dr. Sumangala Patil, Vice Principal (Pre and Para clinical); Dr. Surekha Hipparagi, HOD of the Department of Pathology; Dr. Lata Mullur, HOD dept of Physiology; and Dr. Jyoti Khodnapur, Professor in the Department of Physiology and Coordinator for the Centre for Yoga and Exercise Science.

Chief Guest Dr. Ranjitha K.R. recently spoke to medical students, emphasizing the significance of ancient Yoga, particularly Suryanamaskar, and its connection to a healthy diet. She stressed that Yoga should be integrated into medical students' daily routines as a powerful tool to manage stress. Dr. Ranjitha also cited Swami Vivekananda, stating, "The practice of Yoga leads to the highest goal of human life to realize infinite within us."

 We distributed certificates to students who successfully completed our Value-Added Course in Yoga Physiology. We also extended a warm welcome to the new students joining the One-Year Yoga Certificate Course offered by BLDE (Deemed to be University).

 Yoga teacher Shri M.P. Doddamani and team—Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Ganingston, Mr. Sudhanva, Mr. Vivek, Ms. Ayushi, Ms. Sakshi, and Ms. Tanvi—demonstrated a complete yoga protocol for participants. This session included Yogasanas, Pranayama, Dhyana, and Sankalpa.

 Around 250 individuals attended the event, including administrators of BLDE (Deemed to be University), Heads of Departments, first-year MBBS students, and both teaching and non- teaching faculty.

 The event concluded with vote of Thanks by Dr.Shrilaxmi Bagali Professor Dept of Physiology and the whole event was coordinated by Ms Divya and Ms Jahnvi .
