Medical Laboratory Technician Day Celebration – 13 March 2026

The Department of Microbiology, BLDE (DU) Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, in association with the BLDE (DU) School of Allied Health Sciences, Vijayapura, celebrated Medical Laboratory Technician Day on 13 March 2026 at the Mini Auditorium, Trauma Center, BLDE Hospital. The CME programme was conducted under the theme “Lab Saves Lives: Quality Diagnostics, Quality Care.”

The event commenced with a rally/walkathon to create awareness about the importance of laboratory diagnostics. Scientific sessions covered key topics including Good Laboratory Practices, Quality Assurance and NABL standards, Ethics and Confidentiality, Laboratory Safety, and Stress Management. Interactive role plays and skits by students on hand hygiene, biomedical waste segregation, and report confidentiality added practical value to the programme.

The inaugural function was graced by Dr. Arun C. Inamdar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, BLDE (DU), as Guest of Honour, and Dr. S. V. Patil, Dean, School of Allied Health Sciences, as President. Senior laboratory technicians were felicitated in recognition of their dedicated service.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 74 laboratory technicians, 57 B.Sc. MLT students, and 22 postgraduate medical students. The event successfully highlighted the vital role of laboratory professionals in healthcare and reinforced the importance of quality diagnostics in patient care.
